Building information modelling from SEVERIN DEVELOPMENT
BIM technology in construction: developing of automated design in building and Infrastructure
Building Information Modeling (BIM) - a modern information modeling technology, that allows to electronically present all the data on the capital construction project.
The key principle of BIM modeling technology includes architectural, structural, technological, engineering, economic and operational data that can be collected, interconnected in a single information field.
Three-dimensional BIM-model also contains the project terms, plans and cost, so the parameters of the construction process can be evaluated before construction starts. In other words, each model is an electronic copy of a building.
Benefits of BIM modelling
- All drawings, plans and specifications are interconnected.
- Changes are made faster than in CAD design.
- Visual control of changes in model and in drawings.
- Scope of work and financing is determined, changes are recalculated automatically.
- Automated check for clashes.
- Fast online visualization helps discuss the project with the customer and make timely decisions.
- Performing of complex analysis and mathematical modeling on the current model of the object.
- Most routine operations can be automated.
BIM model development
A model can be created at any time, but it’s more correct to start project work from modelling. This allows to take into account all significant factors and minimize the loss of important information. Ideally, BIM-modeling in construction starts at the stage of pre-design surveys, then information is accumulated.
BIM can be used to obtain detailed information about the proposed construction site. For this, along with traditional methods, laser scanning or photogrammetry technologies are used (quadrocopters, for example)

Work phases:
Creating a model in low development with basic architectural and engineering solution visualization.
After the approval of the concept, the design of the object in BIM is carried out at stage “P” for examination. At this stage, the model allows you to interconnect architectural and engineering solutions, coordinate them with the customer and release a set of drawings for construction expertise.
-
Release of drawing set incorporating appropriate data project documentation for examination.
-
Obtaining a building permit and further development of the model to release construction documentation and statements of the work volume for tenders.
At the stage of construction documentation development, the BIM model allows to get the exact volumes for the tender procedures and quickly track changes in the project.
The developed construction model allows the general contractor and technical customer to quickly receive volumes based on the model, thereby justifying all the figures and controlling any deviations from the contractual or estimated cost.
-
Downloading a construction model in Navisworks and linking it to a schedule and budget.
Today we have the opportunity to integrate the construction schedule to the information model. This allows you to track deviations from planned dates and make decisions on adjustments.
As the result, the team obtains a complete construction control tool for daily reports and accumulative statements for the customer.
BIM model benefits for the customer
- Clear, controllable and visual design process.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration across the same understanding of the state of the process by all participants in the project team.
- Reducing the risk of uncoordinated actions of construction participants.
- Quick making changes in 3D model and statements of work scope, automatically tracking them.
- Integration with the schedule and estimates to control compliance with deadlines and scope of work.
- Automation of building operation: dispatching, effective fire safety, monitoring of sensors, maintenance, redevelopment, reconstruction.
The introduction of BIM-technologies in the design allows to reduce the time of the project implementation, to optimize the construction process and operation of the facility, to extend its service life.
